Your giving today can save lives and change fates
We’re in the final weeks of the 2007 Annual Campaign, and during this critical time, you have an opportunity to impact many people’s lives positively and help them reach their potential.
Results from our Jewish Community
Study impelled the Federation to take immediate action to address our
community’s most pressing needs. We’re pioneering thoughtful
solutions through initiatives that
fund the most effective programs, and partnering with agencies and other
Jewish organizations to maximize our effectiveness. This innovative process
is revolutionary thinking, transforming your gift into a powerful tool — and
giving hope to those with limited opportunities. |

Our community is blooming in June
Mark your calendar now for Sunday, June 3, 2007. We’re celebrating
Israel's 59th anniversary with our community’s largest free cultural
event of the year, Israel in
the Gardens. This entertaining all-day festival will feature world-famous
musicians, live theater dance performers, movie screenings, unique arts
and crafts and tempting ethnic foods. In the same
week,
save Thursday, June 7 to attend our Annual
Meeting. With the theme “Changing Times, Changing Federation,” we
will highlight our volunteers, leaders and staff and salute the best programs
and people working to enhance Jewish life in our community and worldwide. |

The Jewish Community Endowment Fund gives you opportunities to achieve
your charitable goals. You can donate
any asset — cash, stock, life insurance or real estate. Here’s
how the IRA rollover works:
- You may distribute from your IRA up to $100,000 per year tax-free through December 31, 2007, to a qualified public charity.
- You must be 70 ½ years or older at the time of the gift.
- Make the transfer directly through your IRA trustee.
- While there is no charitable deduction for an IRA charitable rollover, you may exclude the gifted amount from taxable gross income (provided the distribution would be otherwise taxable), and the IRA gift will be counted toward the minimum distribution requirements for IRAs.
- A direct distribution to charity is not a “withdrawal” that would customarily be subject to income taxation.

Visiting Israel just got easier
The Israel Center of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco,
the Peninsula, Sonoma and Marin Counties created Israel Travel as
a resource to meet the community’s growing desire to visit Israel.
Israel Travel is a centralized
community resource available for individuals and groups traveling from the
Bay Area to Israel. Besides increasing awareness of the many trip options,
it educates Bay Area travelers about the impact their dollars make in Israel
and the number and variety of scheduled trips offered by community agencies
and synagogues.
Whether you want to visit the Knesset in session, see the historic sites, live on a kibbutz or study at an Israeli university, we can help you find the right Israel travel opportunity to experience the diversity and vibrancy of the Jewish homeland.
Make your travel arrangements today by contacting us: 415.512.6203 or email caront@sfjcf.org. |
