What are the International Diller Teen Initiatives?
Funded by the Helen Diller Family Foundation, a supporting foundation of the Federation’s Jewish Community Endowment Fund of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, the International Diller Teen Initiatives currently includes two separate programs: the Diller Teen Fellows Program and the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards.
Diller Teen Fellows
The goal of the Diller Teen Fellows (DTF) is to develop future generations of Jewish leaders who will be committed to the Jewish people, Israel and community service. This goal is achieved by inspiring and imparting the requisite skills and knowledge to a cohort of 20 exceptional high school juniors (11th graders) selected annually through a competitive process in each participating community. These teen leaders will comprise a diverse national group of young men and women from different Jewish denominations, ethnic heritages and cultures, and geographic backgrounds. Currently there are five national partner DTF communities, each of which is paired with an Israeli sister community:
Additional communities will be selected to participate in 2008-2009. Teen applications are available by contacting each community.

Diller Teen Fellows: Summer Seminar
As a part of the year-long Diller Teen Fellows program, all Diller Teen Fellows groups attend a three-week summer seminar that inspires powerful friendships with their peers and engages them in Jewish life and learning. Join them on their journey and read, first-hand and in their own words, how this experience profoundly impacts their lives.

Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards
Based on the Jewish concept of tikkun olam (“repair of the world”), the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards seek to recognize teens who are exceptional role models in their communities and beyond. Each recipient is given an award of $36,000 for their college education or to further their work to make our world a better place. More...
