The 2005 Tax & Estate Planning Seminar took place on November 3, 2005. Paul N. Frimmer, Irell & Manella LLP, spoke at the afternoon session. He addressed the topic of “Estate Planning in an Uncertain Environment.”

Robert Klein, Chair of the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee which governs the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, provided a lunchtime presentation for professional advisors and invited guests of the JCEF. Over 225 attended his presentation on how California is chartering a new course in stem cell research. Additionally, at the luncheon, Donald Seiler was honored as JCEF Advisor of the Year.

About Paul N. Frimmer
Paul N. Frimmer is a partner and attorney in the Century City office of Irell & Manella LLP. The head of the firm’s Personal Planning workgroup, Mr. Frimmer specializes in estate planning, wills and trusts, probate and trust administration, postmortem tax planning, probate litigation, charitable giving, and tax issues relating to these matters. He is a frequent speaker at national and local estate planning seminars and institutes, including the NYU Tax Institute, the USC Tax Institute, the University of Miami Estate Planning Institute, ALI-ABA seminars, the USC Probate and Trust Institute, and the UCLA Estate Planning Institute. Mr. Frimmer currently is on the planning committee of the USC Tax Institute and the UCLA Estate Planning Institute. He has been an associate professor of law at the USC law school. Mr. Frimmer has authored and coauthored more than 50 publications on estate planning and related areas.

About Robert N. Klein
Robert N. Klein is chair of the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee which governs the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, newly headquartered in San Francisco. The Institute was established in 2004 with the passage of Proposition 71, the California Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative. Mr. Klein was chairman of the Proposition 71 committee. The Institute is responsible for disbursing $3 billion in State funds for stem cell research to California universities and research institutions over the next ten years. Mr. Klein was recently honored as one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People of the Year” for 2005. He is president of Klein Financial Corporation.
