How can I participate?

You can participate as an individual; you can bring family and friends to march with you; or you can organize members of your synagogue or Jewish organization to form a group within the larger Jews March for Pride group.

Which Jewish organizations are participating?

A wide variety of congregations and Jewish groups throughout the Greater Bay Area are participating. Jewish Vocational Services, Camp Newman, Congregation Rodef Shalom, Congregation Beth Am, Progressive Jewish Alliance, Kol Tzedek, Parents Place of Jewish Children and Family Services and the Jewish Community Federation are just a few examples.

Is this a family-friendly event?

Yes! We even have a Stroller Brigade! We hope you’ll be able to bring your family. Vanessa Eisemann and Nancy Brunn are organizing the Jewish Stroller Brigade. Please contact Nancy at nbrunn@sbcglobal.net if you would like to participate or have any questions.

Where can I get the details about Jews March for Pride?

Take a look on our website.

Who should I contact for more information?

For general questions, contact Margee Churchon at mchurchon@jcrc.org. For East Bay organizational questions, contact Sam Strauss at sam@jfed.org. For questions regarding volunteering, contact Jacob Goldstein, the LGBT Alliance summer intern, at JacobG@sfjcf.org.

How do I get to the Beale St. Bar and Grill?

Please take MUNI/BART and exit at the Embarcadero Station. Walk down Market St, away the Ferry Building/waterfront and turn left on Beale St. We are meeting upstairs at 133 Beale Street (at Mission).

How can my organization participate?

First, decide how you would like to represent your organization. Will you march alone or with a particular group or organization? Please bring your own community identifier such as banners or t-shirts. Secondly, if your group has 3 or more people, you are REQUIRED to have one or more members (depending on the size of your party) attend a contingency monitor training.

What is a contingency monitor?

To participate in the parade, Jews March for Pride - like all contingents - is required to have contingency monitors. Contingency monitors are volunteers provided by your organization that will walk with us along the parade route, acting as safety monitors. They must attend one monitor training before the day of the Parade. Read the schedule of contingency monitor trainings. If you were a contingency monitor in a previous Pride parade, you will still need to attend a training session this year. Please note that The LGBT Alliance NEEDS YOUR HELP! If we do not have enough contingency monitors, we will not be allowed to march in the parade. Contact Jacob Goldstein to confirm your availability to volunteer.

Do I need to march with an organization or congregation?

No! Bring yourself, your family, your friends! Please join us as part of the Jewish contingency. All are welcome to attend; come and march with us.

I am mobility impaired, what are my options?

A trolley will be made available to those who have limited mobility. Seating is limited. Please RSVP early to Margee Churchon, at mchurchon@jcrc.org or (415) 957-1551.

Do I need to RSVP?

Yes! Whether you’re marching alone or with an organization, please RSVP at http://tinyurl.com/Jews4Pride.
