Women’s Philanthropy offers women, through their participation in the Federation’s Annual Campaign and the Jewish Community Endowment Fund, the opportunity to contribute financially to the well-being of the community.

There are many reasons for women to make their own Campaign contribution.  By making your own donation, you are:

  • Expressing your commitment while helping to build and revitalize the local Jewish community, developing and sustaining the Jewish homeland, and helping fellow Jews in need in more than 50 countries around the world.
  • Offering fiscal evidence of the influence women exert as full partners and decision-makers in the family, the community, and the nation.
  • Impacting Jewish political power. United States government leaders measure support for Israel and local Jewish communities by counting the number of givers.
  • Fulfilling the mitzvah of tzedakah. No one can do it for us. As women, we set an example of tzedakah for our families by what we do as individuals.

By giving as individuals, women can stand up and truly be counted.

The Jewish community honors women who support the community at these significant contribution levels:

Lion of Judah - $5,000 per year or more

Lion of Judah is an international group of women who make an annual minimum gift of $5,000 or more to the Annual Campaign.  Special programs for Lions include a bi-annual International Lion of Judah Conference in Washington, D.C., as well as local events featuring history, politics, the arts, and health.  Each event is tailor-made to suite the interests of the group.  Over 14,000 women throughout North America and Israel contribute at this extraordinary level.  In the JCF community, there are over 250 women who are Lion of Judah donors.  The Lion of Judah pin, worn with pride by thousands of women worldwide, is one of the most recognized and distinguished symbols of shared commitment to the strength and vitality of the Jewish people.

Lion of Judah Endowment

The Lion of Judah Endowment (LOJE) is the endowment component of the Lion of Judah donation.  Establishing a LOJE allows you to continue to contribute to what is most important to you throughout your lifetime, as well as into the future, by establishing a fund of $100,000. To learn more about how you can establish your LOJE, please contact Dina Jacobs at 415.512.6292 or DinaJ@sfjcf.org

Pomegranate Society - $1,800 per year or more

According to the Midrash, each pomegranate contains 613 seeds, one for each of the mitzvot or commandments enumerated in the Torah.  Women who contribute at least $1,800 to the Annual Campaign sustain the Jewish people by helping to fulfill the mitzvah of tikkun olam (repairing the world).  These women join together throughout the year to enjoy many special events, including an annual celebration.  Pomegranate Society members may wear a sterling silver pomegranate pin.  The pin is designed so that a ruby, representing the red seed of the pomegranate, can be added from year to year as additional gifts are made.

Community Campaign – under $1,800 per year

Support the Jewish community with a contribution of your choice.  We recommend a commitment of at least one dollar a day, $365 - which will give you the opportunity to join Jewish women of all ages at the annual Power of One gala.  Make a donation in the amount of your choosing today and join us at one of our many events!
