Roy Wizeman grew up in a small
settlement in the lower Galil that his
parents helped to establish. As the oldest of
four children, Roy was a youth movement
activist and a role model to his brother
and sisters. He served in the prestigious
engineering infantry unit and rose to
commanding officer.
After the army, Roy spent a year in a pre-academic preparatory program and
then applied to the Jerusalem College of
Engineering. During his application process,
he saw an ad on the Internet for the Atidim in
Industry program and applied. Since he was
a student living in the periphery, and an army
officer with excellent grades and motivation
to succeed, Roy was accepted to Atidim. The
Jewish Agency is a strategic partner in this
program that is providing equal educational
opportunity to talented young adults in the
periphery and development towns.
Roy began his studies in industrial and
management engineering at the Jerusalem
College of Engineering. Through Atidim, he
has been adopted by Ness Technologies, a
dynamic high-tech company that is a leading
international provider of comprehensive
end-to-end IT services and solutions.
“As part of the Atidim in Industry program,
I work at Ness about four hours each week
and on vacations. I am gaining invaluable
experience, and when I graduate I will have
a job waiting for me at the company. It’s
incredible!”
In addition to a secure job and mentoring
from a Ness professional, Roy receives a full-tuition scholarship,
a monthly living stipend and a laptop computer as part of
the Atidim program. He also does community volunteer
work through Ness, and will soon start
a project working with mentally
challenged people.
“I have been given so much assistance
through Atidim, and I want to help others
whenever I can. I feel that Atidim and the
people at Ness are like family. They believe
so much in me and are investing time,
energy and resources to help me to advance.
It is a great feeling.” |
