Project: Planning
Grant for Pluralism and Jewish Identity Program
Tel Hai College, together with
two organizations in the Galil active in Jewish identity education (Siach
Bagalil and L’Eila), are exploring the idea of creating a joint department
center at the college: the Center for Pluralism and Jewish Identity.
The Center would be based on three pillars: academic, community, and “People-to-People
Connections.” During the planning phase, Tel Hai will launch a pilot
project for a selected group of students who are recipients of JCF scholarships.
These students will receive coursework and training in the areas of Jewish
identity and pluralism in preparation for assuming active roles in the
organizations’ community projects.
Partner: YEDID — The Association for Community Empowerment
Project: Tuba Satellite
Office and "Civil Society and Me" Program
In conjunction
with the B’YACHAD Educational Initiative, YEDID will implement the
“Civil Society and Me” program to support a group of 12 young
adults who will do a year of national service after high school for the
benefit of their home community. The program will provide them with an
opportunity to receive training, develop effective citizenship skills
for a democratic society and “give back” to their community.
It will be piloted in a Bedouin community (Tuba) working with local youth.
In concert with this program, YEDID will open a community-based branch
of the Hazor Haglillit Citizen Rights’ Center. The students who
are trained in this program will serve as volunteers in the center.
