Mission statement

“The North Peninsula Jewish Community Teen Foundation will fund projects for both Jewish and non Jewish populations that address basic needs of food, clean water, medical care and education, through programs that address early intervention and lead to self sufficiency.”

• The Hunger Project – African Woman Food Farmer Initiative, Uganda: $5,000
• Jaffa Institute – Fight Against Hunger, Israel: $5,000
• Jewish Family & Children’s Services – Financial Assistance Program: $5,000
• Blue Card – Personal Emergency Response System: $4,500
• A Glimmer of Hope – NPJCTF Water Project, Ethiopia: $3,500
• Ecumenical Hunger Program – Food Intake Program, East Palo Alto: $1,800
• Shelter Network – General operating funds: $1,800

Who we are

The North Peninsula Jewish Community Teen Foundation just completed its first year. Our board is made up of high school students who want to gain valuable leadership skills and experience, bond with socially conscious Jewish peers, and make a difference through realization of Jewish values. Applications will be available on August 1, 2008 and accepted through October 17, 2008 for next year’s board. We invite you to apply at that time. Our board members will:

• Boost their leadership skills
• Connect with Jewish youth
• Expand their Jewish identity
• Debate tough choices
• Engage in social justice issues
• Attend a fun, inspirational and well-planned weekend retreat November 21 to 23, 2008
• Participate in skill-building seminars and youth-led Foundation board meetings on seven Sunday afternoon meetings from December 2008 to May 2009
• Contribute to a pooled fund being matched by donors
